Smart seed : fördröjd groning hos raps : försök med frö-coating samt litteraturgenomgång om frögroning, coating och praktisk tillämpning i reläodling
Oilseed rape constitutes a good break crop within a cereal dominated cropping system. The normal sowing time for winter rape in Sweden is August. It's a time in the cropping year characterized by a heavy work load, such as harvest and soil management. In addition, it is often a period with large precipitation. Thus, it is sometimes problematic for the farmer to do the sowing of winter rape at the optimal time.
Produktionskalkyler för biobränslen :
This study is one of five that has been done based on Lunds Energi?s planned investment
in bioenergy. The plan is to build two large burners, at Örtofta, that?s going to be
supplied with biofuels.
In this study I take a closer look on the profitability when you choose to sell your cereal as bioenergy. I?ve been calculating with selling the straw from the grain crops and winter rape, selling the rye weat as whole crop and fertilize the hemp with sewage
sludge.
Betongarbeten under vintertid : Fokusering på platsgjuten betong
This report is on concrete work during the winter and is implemented on Peab?s behalf. The assignment was to describe the differences between a summer- and a winter casting. While it shows the complications that exists, it also show what aids are available, both electronic via computer and physical aids. The information that I have developed is originally from theory in books, information on the internet as well as practical experience from knowledgeable people that works in construction output. Other theories are those I have learned throughout the education to become a construction engineer, including all oral sources over the years. The results I have come up with, I hope will be able to help future construction projects in the planning phase of a winter casting.
Species diversity and geographical distribution of Fusarium species on winter wheat in two regions in Sweden
Various Fusarium species causes some of the most common cereal diseases worldwide. Besides the yield losses that can be a result of these diseases, strains from several Fusarium species can produce mycotoxins, some very toxic. The aim of this study was to investigate which Fusarium species and how many that occurred in winter wheat grains from Mälardalen and Kalmar län, if there was any difference in the distribution of Fusarium fungi between the regions and the potential within species to produce mycotoxins belonging to the group trichothecenes. Winter wheat grains collected in 2009 from ten fields (unsprayed plots) in the two regions were analysed for Fusarium species. PCR was used to amplify the TEF region where after the samples were sequenced.
Tritordeum : evaluation of a new food cereal
Tritordeum is the result of a cross between a wild barley (Hordeum chilense) and durum wheat (Triticum turgidum). Tritordeum have high viscosity and a nice yellow colour. The objective of this thesis was to evaluate Tritordeum lines HT 354, HT 361, HT 437, HT 2218 (JB3) and HT 1608 (JB1) for use as a new raw material within the food industry. Analyses made were on dietary fibre, fructan, ash, water content and colour. Compilation of data from analyses made for Agrasys an Agri-Food company in Barcelona having the commercial rights to Tritordeum, included Lutein and rheological properties.
Timeliness cost for agricultural sprayers : weed control in cereal crops
Evaluation of machinery costs is necessary for selecting appropriate farm machinery. Timeliness cost due to untimely operations is an important component of machinery costs. Timeliness costs can be high for crop sprayers, since pesticide application must be carried out within a short time interval. This Master thesis investigated the timeliness cost and the probability of a suitable workday for spraying. Timeliness factors were estimated for four different crops (oats, spring wheat, winter wheat and barley) using historical weed trial data.
Biologisk bekämpning av Fusarium graminearum
Fusarium graminearum causes reduction in both yield and quality in cereal grain worldwide. One of the diseases it can cause is Fusarium Head Blight (FHB). Both sexually and asexually produced spores can infect living plants. Asexual conidia are produced in the mycelium while sexual ascospores form in asci in perithecia on debris. In biological control, living organsims are used to control pests and diseases.
Inokulmmängdens betydelse för utveckling av vetets stråbasröta orsakad Fusarium graminearum : utvärdering av ett biotest
Fusarium graminearum is one of the most important pathogens on cereals and causes major crop losses around the world. The most cultivated cereal in Sweden is winter wheat. F. graminearum produces both sexual and asexual spores for dispersal. Multiple factors affect the production of these spores.
Tankar om plöjningsfri odling :
The margin in crop production is more and more less and it forces the producer to check
out how to reduce the cost of establishment of new crop. One way to reduce the cost in
establishment is to begin with plough less farming. It saves money and time compares to
conventional soil preparation with plough and harrow.
Not all soil types are god for plough less farming and should be continued with
ploughing (mainly light soil), but other soil types working very well with plough free
farming.
If you want to success with plough less farming you have to think in new lanes. One of
the things you have to think about is to not grow too much cereal after cereal. Low
stubble is important when you harvest the crop and also to spread and chop the straw
well.
I have in this work interviewed some farmers and farm advisers in Östergötland to see
which thoughts they have about plough less farming.
Tjäderns (Tetrao urogallus L.) vinterdiet i norra Sverige : är gran (Picea abies) viktig i vissa habitat?
In Scandinavia, capercaillie are often associated with pine trees (Pinus sylvestris) in winter, with pine needles as the main diet. Few dietary studies have been conducted in Sweden and winter diet is subject to little debate. The interesting thing is that this "pine specialist? is also found in spruce (Picea abies) forest habitats where pine is scarce or unavailable. In many studies outside Sweden (primarily Central Europe) spruce is regularly observed in the winter diet, but I have found no reports on the selection of the diet in spruce forest areas in Sweden.
Soil carbon, pH and yield development in a long-term humus balance trial
Agriculture has to be performed in a sustainable way in order to sustain high yields and to support a globally growing population. Functional soil properties are fundamental for high yields and in order to achieve good soil conditions sustainable management is a key. Loss
of soil organic material and increased soil acidity are problems associated with degradation of soils and hence less sustainable agriculture. In this thesis, the effect of different agricultural systems on soil organic matter, pH and yield was examined. The systems examined are a cereal system with straw removal or returning and a ley system, all with different nitrogen levels.
Variationer av klor, svavel och aska i havrekärna : odlingsfaktorernas inverkan på havrens bränsleegenskaper
The increasing oil prices during the last years have made it profitable to use cereal grains as a fuel. When compared with wood, cereals contain higher amounts of Cl, S and ash. The Cl and S content makes the gases from cereal combustion more corrosive than gases from wood combustion. The goal of this master thesis was to find out the variation of Cl, S and ash content for oat grain grown under different conditions. Oats was chosen because in Sweden it's considered as the cereal with the best fuel qualities.
Hälsokontrollen av den gemensamma jordbrukspolitiken (CAP) : effekter på lantbruket genom gårdsstödet
The Healthcheck is an evaluation of the 2003 years reform of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). When the Healthcheck of CAP is decided, most likely in the beginning of 2009, there will be a discussion about how CAP will appear in the next budget period 2013. One main question in the Healthcheck is how the farm support will be designed. A suggestion that has arised is if todays addition amount for dairy- and beef production should be transferred to the fundamental farm support. In this exam theses calculations has been done in created typical farms in every Swedish support region for cereals-, dairy- and beef production.
Älgbetesinventering på Orsblecks viltvårdsområde
The purpose with this report is to compare moose browsing in young stands within a small game preservation, and if there are any differences between two areas.
The method used in the inventory is a local damage caused by moose browsing survey. It is suitable on areas that have more than 50 hectares but less than 250 hectares of young forest. Inventory of moose browsing is best done on bare ground in the spring and should preferably be done before the flushing begins at the pine.
Orsblecks game management area is divided into two different moose management areas, Noppikoski and Siljansringen. During the winter Siljansringen has a denser winter strain of moose, because of the moose seek out lower parts with less snow during the winter. This should also lead to the southernmost part should accommodate larger proportion of damages caused by browsing by moose.
Utvärdering av olika diagnostiska metoder för infektioner med bovint coronavirus hos nötkreatur :
This paper shortly describes the coronavirus family, bovine corona viruses (BCV)
properties and two diseases that BCV causes, winter dysentery and calf diarrhoea.
The purpose of the study was to compare different diagnostic methods to detect
BCV. Different methods are discussed, PCR, ELISA, immunofluorescense and
virus isolation.
Investigations were made in three different herds with winter dysentery; one dairy
cattle farm with about 100 cows of different ages, one testing station for bulls with
about 150 bulls and another small dairy cattle farm with 26 cows and 20
replacement heifers and calves. Faeces and nasal swabs were analysed with PCR
and ELISA.
The result shows that PCR seems to be a reliable method for detecting BCV but
that the ELISA test can not be used as a reliable diagnostic method to analyse
samples from animals with winter dysentery..
